A “noxious gas” is posing a danger to residents’ health, heard a meeting of Templemore Area Meeting.
“Something has to be done about the sewerage in this area. We have a duty of care,” said Cllr Pauline Coonan. Town Clerk Tom McGrath said there was storm water and foul mixed together. The problem comes from blocked pipes, and “really relates to one house” that is affecting other houses. The estate is private, but regular maintenance is carried out by Council engineers, added Mr McGrath. This work has been hampered by heavy rainfall, and there is a problem with the design and construction of the systems involved.
