A women’s shelter in Clonmel is being forced to turn away women and Children because of a severe lack of funding.
South Tipp Independant Deputy Mattie McGrath says that Cuan Saor was forced to turn away 163 women and 194 children this year, as it couldn’t accomodate them.
Funding for the refuge has decreased by 110 thousand euro since 2010.
Deputy McGrath says its indicative of the situation being faced by groups across the Country
He has called on the Government to prioritise child safety.
