Canon Hayes 10k The Annual Canon Hayes 10k, which took place on Friday July 13th, attracted a very large entry this year with well in excess of 200 participants. Chairman of the Canon Hayes Recreation Centre, Martin Quinn, said that the turn out far exceeded expectations and was one of the largest in many years.

The Annual Canon Hayes 10k, which took place on Friday July 13th, attracted a very large entry this year with well in excess of 200 participants. Chairman of the Canon Hayes Recreation Centre, Martin Quinn, said that the turn out far exceeded expectations and was one of the largest in many years.

He said that he was delighted with the response and was pleased to see such great support for the chosen charity, the Moorehaven Centre. He added that he was delighted to see so many of the Moorehaven trainees participating in the 10k and he paid tribute to them for their participation and endurance.

The winner of the 10k was Kevin Moore from Dundrum AC in a time of 34.29. Kevin was followed home by Tommy Blackburn in a time of 34.45 and Mike Cunningham in a time of 34.53. The first lady home was Margaret Danagher of Templemore AC in a time of 38.26, with Dymphna Ryan in second in a time of 40.07 and Marie Fitzgibbon third in a time of 42.03.
