Cashel Town FC are once again calling on schoolboys and girls to enter into a “mini Euros” football tournament which will be hosted by the club from the last week of July and through the first week of August.
This follows on from a hugely successful similar competition which the club organised two years ago, and the club hopes that this one will be even bigger and better. An added dimension to this tournament is that the club is hoping that enough girls will register to run a completely separate “girls only” tournament.
The plans currently are to run competitions in three age groups for both boys and girls, with the boys playing in under 8’s, 10’s and 12’s, and the girls playing at U9’s, 11’s and 13’s. Currently players are training with the club from not only Cashel, but other villages around the local area, and the club hopes that new players come in and enjoy the fun and enjoyment of playing team sport in a friendly environment.
The tournament two years ago was a huge success in this regard, and since then the club has built upon that, to introduce many new players into their schoolboys and schoolgirls set up. Added to that, South Tipperary Schoolboys leagues started up a “girls league” this year, and it is hoped that Cashel will be entering teams into those leagues this season, to give as many children as possible a chance to play sport over the winter months.
Registration for the tournament has already begun, and the club would ask that people register as soon as possible so that teams and games can be arranged. There is a €5 euro registration charge, but a maximum cost to any family of €10, so all entrants after the second will be free. For more information please contact Paul on 086-2602253, Michael on 087-2437752, Theresa on 087-2055182 or Liam on 087-6178013, or any other member of Cashel Town Schoolboys and Schoolgirls FC. Games will be played at the Cashel Community School pitch in Palmershill.
