Funding For Clare Glens Welcomed

Minister Alan Kelly TD and Cllr. Jonathan Meaney have welcomed funding of €159,500 for the Clare Glens and €80,000 for Ballina Playground.

Minister Alan Kelly TD and Cllr. Jonathan Meaney have welcomed funding of €159,500 for the Clare Glens and €80,000 for Ballina Playground.

Minister Alan Kelly stated “in November last year I announced funding of €119,625 for the Clare Glens, which I secured under Fáilte Ireland’s Tourism Capital Investment Programme, the council have agreed to add €39,875 to this funding, which totals €159,500 for the Clare Glens. The funding will go towards upgrading footpaths and toilet facilities, as well as the provision of play equipment, picnic tables, and litter bins. Safety handrails will also be installed and map/information board provided. Improvements will also be made to the main entrance to make it more accessible. This will all enhance the Clare Glens Amenity Area thereby improving facilities for visitors”.

Ballina Playground

Minister Alan Kelly and Cllr Jonathan Meaney welcome the announcement of €80,000 for the refurbishment of Ballina Playground, the funding will go towards a new surface and replacement of some of the existing equipment. “This follows on from the investment of €55,920 I announced for the upgrade of the swimming pool, and the investment of €66,428 for the outdoor gym equipment and MUGA (Multi Use Gaming Area - AstroTurf pitch) in Ballina, both of these funding announcements were made in October last year. All these facilities in Ballina will provide opportunities for both young and old to keep themselves fit, healthy and active” the Minister stated.
