FAI Chief Named as St Patrick’s Day Grand Marshal

The CEO of the FAI, John Delaney has been named as the Grand Marshal of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Tipperary Town.

The CEO of the FAI, John Delaney has been named as the Grand Marshal of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Tipperary Town.

Though born in Waterford, John grew up and went to school in Tipperary Town and his parents, Joe and Joan reside in the town. He went to school in the Abbey CBS in Tipperary and played GAA with the local Arravale Rovers Clubs and soccer with St. Michael’s A.F.C.

He became Acting Chief Executive of the FAI in December 2004 and took up the role full-time in March 2005. His current contract as CEO runs until 2015. Prior to becoming CEO he was Treasuer of the FAI, a post that was also held previously by his father Joe.

Given his close association with Tipperary Town, John is sure to receive a warm welcome as Grand Marshal of the Tipperary Parade on St. Patrick’s Day.

The Parade will get underway from the Limerick Road at 3pm and makes its was way through the Town Centre and past the Reviewing Stand which will be located between the two Banks.

A large crowd is expected to line the streets for this year’s event.
