Dr. Helena Moore was the guest speaker at the Tipperary Branch of the Parkinson’s Association, in the Abbey Court Hotel, Nenagh on Friday, April 27th.
Dr. Moore, who is a Consultant Neurologist in the Kerry/Limerick area, gave a wide-ranging and enlightened talk entitled “Parkinson’s an Overview”. In her talk she emphasized the importance of early diagnosis, the role of medication in slowing the progress of Parkinson’s and, at a later stage, controlling the symptoms. She also emphasized the importance of taking the medication at a fixed time each day and not departing from the routine.
The patients and careers present were loud in their praise for Dr. Moore’s contribution and this was evidenced in the many questions that came up during the Question & Answer session that followed her talk, and likewise in the queues of people who wanted to speak to her afterwards. Mary Carey presented Dr. Moore with a token of thanks from the Tipperary Branch of Parkinson’s.
The other main speaker, Una Anderson Ryan spoke about the Conference organized for June 17th in Dublin. It was suggested that transport might be organized to facilitate those who wish to travel to Dublin by bus. Anyone interested should give their names to Mary Carey.
