Following a successful launch and networking event at LIT Thurles Campus in February, the new Steering Group of Tipperary Green Business Network has appointed a Coordinator to build and develop the network county wide, hosted by North Tipperary Leader Partnership.

The new Co-ordinator, Caroline Shanahan, has been a member of the steering group for the TIPPERARY GREEN BUSINESS NETWORK since June 2011.

TIPPERARY GREEN BUSINESS NETWORK are now organising some important events for the coming months.

On Wednesday May 16th, there will be a Networking evening for all members and anyone interested in the Tipperary Green Business Network in LIT, Thurles Campus at 7:30 pm.

The evening will feature a presentation from Davie Philip of Cultivate/Cloughjordan Eco Village on a key showcase event for network members to be held in Cloughjordan on June 30th.

This showcase event will link up with the “Totally Tipperary” day of the Cloughjordan Festival and Convergence, a national sustainability festival by Cultivate.

The evening will also include tea/coffee, and a chance for members to mingle, share ideas and information.

The Green Business Network was established to take advantage of the emerging Green Economy, harness its job creation potential, with the longer term ambition of making Tipperary one of Ireland’s greenest counties.

The Network will aim to support and develop businesses working in the green economy in the County.

Membership of the Network is free for the first year.

TGBN will initially focus on the following key sectors: Buildings & Energy, Tourism, Transport, Food & Agriculture as well as an Other Services sector to include all other types of businesses involved in the green economy locally.

To date, the network has received support from North Tipperary LEADER Partnership, South Tipperary Development Company, LIT Tipperary, Tipperary Energy Agency, as well as from the enterprise boards of North and South Tipperary.
