The Pastoral Preparation Programme for Thurles parish will take place in Lamh Chunta, Bothar na Naomh, on four Thursday evenings during Lent. It is being presented as an itinerary for our journey towards the great gathering of the 50th International Eucharistic Congress in Dublin, 10th –17th June 2012.

This journey in Faith has been mapped out in four stages, each of which reflects on an aspect of the celebration of the Eucharist and the lifestyle it inspires, in the light of the overall Congress them e - The Eucharist: Communion with Christ and with one another.

This programme marks the beginning of a journey of discovery. It is an invitation to revisit the celebration of the Eucharist and explore it part by part. Each stage will aim to unfold intrinsic insights of one of the rites of the celebration of Eucharist.

Thursday 8th March, Christ gathers us as a Eucharistic Community.

Thursday 15th March, Christ gathers us to hear God’s Word.

Thursday 22nd March, Christ gathers us to be nourished by the Bread of Life.

Thursday 29th March, Christ gathers and strengthens us for Mission.

Each evening, commencing at 7.30pm, the programme will provide a short presentation on the designated theme, workshop style discussion in small groups, and prayer and reflection that will deepen our appreciation and understanding of the Eucharist. It is intended that this programme will provide an opportunity for contemplation on what it means, as individuals and as community, to gather for the Sunday celebration of Eucharist.

Our destination is not just the wonderful event of the Congress but also, the attainment of a renewed experience of the Eucharist, as communion with Christ and with one another, into the future.

The programme will be presented by our own priests and parishioners working together in a spirit of co-responsibility.

A warm welcome is extended to all who might wish to come along to explore and ponder the depths and mystery of, “the source and summit of the Christian life,” the Eucharist.
