LIFE SUCCESS MENTOR: Andrew Considine, life success mentor, spoke to the senior classes during the week. The subject of his address was “Master Mind to Success”. The girls found this talk very interesting as Mr. Considine introduced new ideas regarding motivation, life skills and how to improve their personal results. One quote that resonated with the girls was “A quitter never wins and a winner never quits”, as they were challenged to convert their goals into success. The students would like to thank Mrs. Collins for facilitating this talk.
1ST YEAR BASKETBALL : Last week was a busy one for all 1st Year basketball players with two challenge matches played against St. Anne’s in Tipperary Town and a further two against Cashel Community School. Great interest and dedication has been shown by our players so far and their hard work in training since September paid off, as we finished the week with four victories from our four games. Well done to all players and we look forward to what will hopefully be a successful season when the league gets under way early in the new year.
MIDLANDS FINAL FOR THE PRES!: Congratulations to the Presentation ‘A’ Cadette Basketball Team who came through a hard fought Midlands Semi-final against The Bower, Athlone, to reach the Midland’s A Final and also to qualify for the All-Ireland A Playoffs in January. In what was a very close and tense encounter Presentation kept their composure under pressure in the first half, with excellent offensive displays from both Aoife O’Brien and Rachel Byrne, each scoring 10 points, while there was some superb rebounding from co-captain Laura Loughnane. Presentation went in at the half-time with a lead of 6 points. Presentation took control in the second half with some excellent pressure from Keelin Nugent. A great team performance saw Presentation run out comfortable winners on a scoreline of 39- 27. Best of luck to the girls in this week’s Midlands final against old rivals Mercy Waterford.
FUTSAL FINAL : Presentation Thurles faced Scoil Mhuire gan Smal, Convent of Mercy, Roscommon in the final of the Futsal schools soccer competition. An explosive final ensued as Mercy marked their victory in the final game of the series with three goals in each half to secure the coveted All Ireland title. The Roscommon natives had a multitude of goals from Niamh Farrell (5) and Grainne Whyte (1) to claim a comprehensive result against a diligent opposition. Three goals in the last two minutes put the game out of reach for Presentation. Hazel McAuliffe registered the only goal for Thurles as the game reached its conclusion. Presentation Secondary School should be very proud of their performances throughout the competition from county level to the national final. These girls are certainly players to watch out for in the future. Well done girls!
