Local Minister Alan Kelly has urged Community projects that are working towards environmental improvement and sustainable development to apply for the Local Agenda Environmental Partnership Fund from the County Council.
“The recent announcement by Minister Phil Hogan allocated 17,500 for the county under the scheme. This will be met with match funding by the local authority which means a potential fund of 35,000 for the county.
Last year a total of 20 projects were funded by the councils, 10 in North Tipperary and 10 in South Tipperary. These projects support projects that seek to improve the environment both by making our communities more sustainable and by raising awareness. Projects funded last year were as diverse as waste, climate change & biodiversity.”
Details on the fund can be found on the County Council website or from the Environmental Officer on (067) 44786 and the closing date is 19th October. Projects will be selected according to relevant criteria to be funded by North Tipperary County Council and the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government. Preference is given to those projects where a proportion of the project cost is funded by the applicant or from other sources.
