Departing at 4am on Thursday July 26th all the travelling party were in high spirits; after a long days travelling the Group arrived at our main base for the Camp; Gilwell Scout Centre (the National Headquarters of UK Scouting) in Chingford just outside London.

The week was action packed with the Scouts and Ventures taking part in many activities on-site including High Ropes; 3G Swing; Jacobs Ladder; Climbing Walls and Riffle Shooting. Offsite Trips included a trip to the local Swimming Pool; a bus tour of London and a shopping trip to London for the Ventures. During the week all Members got the chance to go to an Olympic Event in London; on Saturday 28th six people attended the Volleyball at the Riverbank arena; 26 people saw the double-header (including Team GB) at Wembley on Sunday 29th; 6 more visited the Olympic Village for the Hockey on Tuesday 31st and 21 people visited Wembley on Wednesday 1st. Most of the Group also got a chance to visit the Olympic Experience Exhibition in Covent Garden and have their photo taken with the Olympic Torch.

Through-out the week our traditional best patrol on Camp competition took place with the Patrols been assessed on their Camping Skills; Cooking Skills; Log Books and Uniform.
