Tipperary Musical Society Scoops Top Award

Tipperary Musical Society was the toast of the country last weekend when it scooped the Best Overall Show at the annual AIMS Awards for the fastastic production of Man of La Mancha staged in the Simon Ryan, Excel Theatre back in the Spring.

Tipperary Musical Society was the toast of the country last weekend when it scooped the Best Overall Show at the annual AIMS Awards for the fastastic production of Man of La Mancha staged in the Simon Ryan, Excel Theatre back in the Spring.

A richly deserved award, the Society was also honoured with the Best Actor Award - Cathal O’Donoghue for his role as Cervantes/ Don Quixote; the Best Actress Award - Deirdre Ryan - for her role as Aldonza; and they also won the Unsung Hero Award with Bill O’Dwyer being honoured by AIMS.

Yes, it was a super night of celebration for the considerable travelling contingent from Tipperary Musical Society. The black tie, glittering awards night, sponsored by HB Ice Cream, is one of the social occasions of the musical theatre calendar and was attended by some 1000 people drawn from all over Ireland.
