Nenagh judge Mary Martin has stepped down from her position. Judge Martin, who has been on leave for the past few months, was appointed to the bench in November 1983.
At 33 years, she was one of the youngest female judges ever appointed and certainly the youngest of her generation when she was appointed.
Judge Martin, 61, is a sister of Nenagh solicitor Noel O’Meara and an aunt of solicitor Raymond O’Meara.
