Another agency interested in Civic Office space

While the second floor of the Civic Office building on Friar Street, Cashel, has been leased to the County Childcare Committee who propose to take up possession during July, negotations are progressing with another agency for a lease of the ground and first floors.

While the second floor of the Civic Office building on Friar Street, Cashel, has been leased to the County Childcare Committee who propose to take up possession during July, negotations are progressing with another agency for a lease of the ground and first floors.

This information was given to Councillor Tom Wood at the June meeting of Tipperary County Council in response to a motion calling on Council management to utilise the former meeting chamber for committee and other meetings as it is ideally located within the new County Council geographical area, is a separate building with services and has its own adjacent parking facilities.

In proposing the motion he said it was a year since the Town Council was abolished and the Civic Offices closed and there was no reason why the chamber could not have been utilised productively until suitable tenants were installed.

He now understands that the former council chamber forms an integral part of plans for the new agency and so will not be available for the use proposed in the motion.
