Tipperary County Council urged to give priority to making temporary staff fulltime
The appeal was made by Cllr Ger Darcy at the January meeting of Nenagh MDC. He was supported by Cllr Michael O’Meara, who maintained it was “only fair that they were given a fair crack of the whip”.
The council was urged by Cllr John Carroll to be “more aggressive” with repairs and maintenance when the new staff is hired instead of reacting to problems. He claimed that maintenance was “haphazard” at present.
Area engineer Michael Hayes replied that the council was deciding when to bring the temporary staff back, but that, hopefully, it would be this week.
District manager Marcus O’Conor pointed out that staff recruitment was a matter for HR.
