Visiting restrictions have been imposed at the Community Hospital of Assumption in Thurles, The Tipperary Star can reveal.
A number of confirmed cases and suspected cases of Influenza Type A have been detected and as a result strict infection control precautions are in place throughout the hospital.
Because of the outbreak, all admissions to the hospital have been cancelled until further notice while Day Hospital services have also been deferred.
A multidisciplinary team from the Mid West is assisting the hospital staff in managing the situation and the Health Service Executive is asking the public to co-operate fully with these arrangements.
Families of residents and patients can obtain further details of the restrictions by contacting nurse management at the hospital.
