Following on from the success of last years event - the first of its kind in the school - the Parents Council decided that the unique and special atmosphere generated on the day, was just too good to let go. So, they have put the shoulder to the wheel once more and have been working hard to ensure that everything will be in readiness for the second annual event in the CBS primary school.

Parents, former staff members, past pupils and people drawn from the locality are all being invited to come along, sit down and have a chat, a cup of coffee or tea and avail of the many treats which will be on offer thanks to the culinary skills of the multitudes.

There will be buns, cakes, tarts, desserts, muffins, scones and every kind of treat you can dream of to go along with a cuppa. And, of course there will be plenty to purchase and take home for the rest of the family too.

As part of the event, there is also a book sale. So, if you fancy a bargain before Christmas come along and see what’s on offer. You could pick up a sports biography, gardening book, a novel or many other title you care to mention.

There will also be a raffle on the day and parents council will be selling tickets to help raise some funds for the running of the school.

“There was a great atmosphere in the school last year and we decided that we could not allow that kind of goodwill and spirit to just drift away. We are promising a bigger and better day this time round and we are looking forward to seeing many past pupils coming along as well as parents and former staff members. It will be a great occasion,” said Una Crowley, Chairperson of the hard working team that forms the Parents Council.

The renowned Scoil Ailbhe Christmas Concert is just around the corner (December 11th and 12th) and the pupils are working like trojans to be ready in time for the curtains-up. But, as a taster of what is to come, the school choir will perform a few Christmas carols to entertain those in attendance and this will add to the occasion while at the same time highlighting the fabulous talent in the school.

Schools are under enormous pressure to make ends meet these days but thanks to the generosity of the general public and the enthusiasm and energy of Parents Councils and Boards of Management, they are just about managing to get by. The funds raised from the coffee morning/ cake sale will be utilised to fund school activities and will certainly be put to good use.

See you there for coffee.
