Thurles Town Councillor John Kenehan has called for a cycle lane to be established linking Thurles to Holycross, onto Cashel and reversing the route from Cashel through the Horse and Jockey to Thurles via Mill Road.

Speaking at the monthly meeting of the council this week, Cllr Kenehan said that this could provide a vital tourist and recreational link and would also be invaluable for walking enthusiasts.

“I think this would certainly be a good addition to the locality and I would urge the County Councils to come together and make it happen,” he said.

Cllr Michael Cleary supported the call while Cllr Jim Ryan said that Minister Alan Kelly should be contacted in relation to it given his brief.
