Last Monday our sixth year students participated in a study skills and examination technique training programme which was delivered by a team of experts from ‘Super Generation’. Topics dealt with included language skills, proper note taking, memory enhancement techniques, stress management, time management, exam technique and preparation for oral examinations.
On Monday the 18th of November our Green Schools Committee won an award at the North Tipperary Environmental Awards. The committee works very hard to encourage all students and staff of the school to take on a more environmentally friendly approach to litter and waste and also promotes the conservation of energy in the school.
The committee is applying for its second green flag, for Energy, this year .
Rehearsals are well under way for this year’s school musical. Students are busy making sets and practising their singing, acting and dancing skills. ‘Our House’ will be performed in the Premier Hall on the 12th, 13th and 14th of December and it promises to be an excellent show.
Garda Open Day
On Fri last our transition year students attended the Garda Open Day at Thurles Garda Station. The pupils got the opportunity to speak with members of the Armed Response Unit, Dog Unit and the Riot Squad. Other emergency services were also present on the day and the fire brigade gave a demonstration on how they would go about cutting accident victims out of crashed vehicles. Representatives of the Road Safety Authority were also present and several students tried out their car crash simulator.
G.A.A. Youth Forum
Thirteen students from our school participated in the Tipperary G.A.A. Youth Forum which took place in The Dome, Semple Stadium on Thursday last.
