County Clare was the location for two club walks last weekend, making a change from our normal comfort zone.
On Saturday Rody Tierney led a group along the recently opened Cliffs of Moher Coastal Walk, a cliff top route from Hag’s Head near Liscannor to Doolin 12km to the north. Unfortunately the weather was misty, the sight of the ocean beneath remaining elusive. Conditions were much better for Pat Butler’s Sunday visit to the Burren National Park and the Mullaghmore Loop. Warm sunshine brought out the best of this remarkable landscape of rock, lakes and outstanding natural beauty. Thanks to Rody and Pat for a great weekend. All club walks on Sunday next are on the south side of the Galtees. The A walk with Tom Lyons meets at Carey’s Garage, Kilcoran, at 10am. Best of luck to Denny O’Dwyer taking his first B walk, meeting at King’s Yard at 10am while there is an 11am start for Liz McNamara and the C walkers at the Mountain Road car park in Cahir.
