Wedding Bells: Congratulations and best wishes to Donncha, son of Tom and Brigid Maher, Boulabeha and Marie Kennedy, Boherlahan who were married at Boherlahan Church on Friday, 20th September.
Late Rally: Warmest congratulations to our Intermediate hurlers who snatched victory from the jaws of defeat in the County quarter final against a Seán Treacys combination played at Drombane last Sunday. A particular word of praise to Diarmuid Fogarty who scored the winning point deep into injury time as well as scoring a crucial goal in the first half. (See match report).
Bridge Club: The A.G.M. was held on Thursday, 19th September. Officers elected: President, Frances O’Brien; Vice President, Mary Fennelly; Secretary, Paddy Moran; Treasurer, Kay Carey; Asst. Treasurer, Carmel Lonergan; P.R.O. Jim O’Meara; Tournament Directors, Breda Brennan, Peggy Gleeson, Mick Kennedy, Margaret Moran, J.J. Butler; Partner Co-ordinator, Anna Kiely. Warm tributes were paid to outgoing President, Mary Moore on a job well done. Our sincere thanks to Delia and Timmy Cullen for providing such a fine venue for our weekly game, while our community centre was under renovation and on countless other occasions. Congratulations to our new Secretary, Paddy Moran who gave a fine performance in the tribute evening to the late Denis O’Driscoll at the Source on Friday, 20th September. We wish our new President, Frances O’Brien a happy and successful year ahead. Winners on 12th Sept: 1st Kitty Doyle and Joan Queally, 2nd Breda Brennan and Michael Kennedy, 3rd Mary Fennelly and Kathleen Roberts.
Ladies Football: Best of luck to the Tipp. Ladies Intermediate football team who will meet Cavan in the TG4 All-Ireland final this Sunday, 29th Sept. On the panel is Catríona Walsh, daughter of Paddy and Mary, Manselstown and team manager is Seán O’Donovan brother of Mary Maher, Manselstown.
Clothes Collection: A recycling clothes collection will take place at Moyne N.S. on Tuesday, 8th Oct. Clothes may be dropped off at the school on Friday, 4th and Monday, 7th Oct. New and used clothes, shoes, belts, handbags, ties, linens and stuffed toys would be most welcome. Scoil na Maighne would really appreciate your support.
