During this dry and very warm weather it will be important to look after all shrubs and flowers in both baskets and boxes, and we ask everyone to spare five minutes in the cool of the evening to give them water as they will dry out very quickly in this heat if neglected.
There are some very fine displays of flowers all over town, and it would be a pity to loose them, as they give that little extra colour and help make “Roscrea more beautiful.”
This is one of the categories where Roscrea has the least mark, and the one we must now concentrate on to try and rid the footpaths and streets of litter and cigarette butts. So many people do so much good work to improve the appearance of the town, and then find that all this work is undone by a few who carelessly drop cans, cartons and butts. If Roscrea was to have been judged on Sunday morning last it would have lost up to five marks under “Litter control”, so again we ask everyone to be more thoughtful, and vigilant, and if managing a Business on the street to sweep up outside their own doors and keep a check on it throughout the day. (The footpaths outside some premises are spotless and always kept to a high standard and this is very much appreciated by all) Tidy Towns volunteers give days, weeks and years of their time freely working to enhance the town and make it more attractive for visitors to the town, and customers to your premises, and we would very much appreciate your help and support in keeping a check on the street and footpath outside your door. Keep “Pride of Place” in mind both inside and outside your premises, and help Roscrea to reach higher marks in the Tidy Towns
