Capital Grant Approved

The group submitted a Capital Grant Application for the proposed Community and Heritage Hall in July. They were informed in October that the grant had been fully approved by the Board of North Tipperary LEADER and that the file was in perfect order.

There were a large number of applicants who applied for funding under the Heritage Measure and as a consequence of this, funds had become exhausted in 2011. However they have been reassured by Sean Crowley of LEADER that the Killea Heritage Building is a priority with LEADER and is first in line for funding in the New Year, subject to the successful reallocation of funds from other measures as they anticipate will happen in January.

Deputy Noel Coonan has taken an active role and interest in their progress and has met with the Executive and the community and made representations on their behalf. He arranged that Denise Meagher, Chair, meet Minister Jimmy Deenihan in late November to outline the unexpected delay with their funding and the Minister has given his word that he will do what he can to ensure the group get the funds needed to complete our building project in 2012
