The Roscrea autumn conference at Mount St Joseph Cistercian Abbey will take place from Friday 4th – Sunday 6th November 2011 with the theme: Art and Devotion in Medieval Ireland. Conference organizer and director George Cunningham expresses himself well pleased with the bookings and all the arrangements to date. Participants are booked in from the four corners of Ireland.
Both guesthouses are full but accommodation is still available in the town and district. Some part attendance is available. More details from MSJ at 0505 25600.
The programme is packed with the best of Irish scholarship from leading scholars in the field. Two books will be honoured during the weekend.
Professor Padraig O Riain’s twenty year study of the Irish saints, A Dictionary of Irish Saints will be launched by Dom Laurence Walsh on the Saturday evening and Glendalough – the city of God will be honoured at the same reception. Of great interest too will be the attention given to Holycross in light of the appalling theft there of its unique treasures.
