Tipperary Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture Tom Hayes TD has welcomed the announcement this week that new bus stops will be added to Route 828 from Cashel to Portlaoise.

This route is currently serviced by the 828 and the 828x services but will all now operate as the 828.

There are proposals that new stops will be added to this route, at the Horse and Jockey and Littleton, while there will also be stops at Johnstown, Urlingford, Cullahill, Durrow and Abbeyleix.

Speaking on the matter Minister Hayes said: “These proposed new stops will offer a better service and choice to people in these areas and I encourage the National Roads Authority (NRA) and Bus Eireann to implement these changes as soon as possible.”

Deputy Hayes added: “This announcement also comes amid efforts to improve connection times with Route X12 whereby departure times from Cashel and Portlaoise will be improved upon and three additional services will operate on Sunday.”
