Meeting - A meeting of the Hawthorn Social Club will be held in the Hawthorn Lounge, Ballacolla on this Wednesday, June 8th at 9 p.m. All members past and present are invited to attend this meeting as there are very important matters to be discussed and decisions need to be made.
The Late Bridget Donohue - The death occurred on Saturday, 28th May peacefully at her residence of Bridget Donohue of Cork Road, Durrow. She had been very ill for some time. Bridget was a most remarkable lady who was deeply involved in the community and did excellent work. A staunch member of Community Alert she gave a wonderful service. She is very sadly mourned by her mother Bridie, her eight brothers, her seven sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, her Uncle Joe, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, all her extended family, neighbours, friends and everyone who knew Bridget. Remains reposed at her residence. Removal took place to the Church of the Holy Trinity on Monday and burial followed to the adjoining cemetery. May her noble and gentle soul rest in peace.
The Late John Stapleton - The death occurred on Saturday, 28th May unexpectedly at Naas General Hospital of John (Jack) Stapleton of Kylebeg. His passing caused widespread shock, he was a most popular and highly respected gentleman, a wonderful husband and father. Jack was all his life working on machines at which he was a genius. He had only recently retired. He is sadly mourned by his heartbroken wife Mary, daughter Margaret, sons John and Anthony, sisters Margaret and Anne, brothers-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, uncles, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandson, relatives, friends, all the neighbours, work colleagues and everyone who knew John. Reposing was at his residence. Removal took place on Tuesday morning to the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Ballacolla. The cortege was flanked down by Guards of Honour from all Jack’s clubs. Concelebrated Requiem Mass was celebrated and followed by burial in St. Brigid’s Cemetery, Ballinakill. My his gentle soul rest in peace.
Easy Riders - The time of the year has come around again. The bikes are coming down from resting after the Winter and the riders ate getting into training for the big spin. Last year the easy riders presented 6,000 euros to the ‘Make Believers’. A huge thank you to all who were involved and to the great sponsors. This year the cycle is taking place on the weekend of September 10th commencing in the Square, Rathdowney and finishing in Cobh, Cork. Any nomination for this years charity is to be submitted to Iano’s Bar, Rathdowney.
