Annual Diocesan Pilgrimage - The annual Diocesan Pilgrimage to Knock Shrine (under the leadership of Bishop Kieran O’Reilly) and organised by the Legion of Mary will take place on Sunday, 3rd July. Buses serving all of the usual areas, Clonakenny, Moneygall, Dunkerrin. Booking through the usual outlets or any member of the Legion of Mary. The bus will be leaving Dunkerrin at 8.45 a.m. The fare will be 20 euro, child 10 euro. Booking will close on Wednesday, 29th June. Ceremonies start at 2.30 p.m. Holy Mass at 3 p.m.

Pretty Wedding - The wedding took place on Saturday, 4th June at St. Mary’s Church, Dunkerrin of Martina O’Toole, Ballystanley, Roscrea and Aidan Hogan, Birr. The celebrant of the Mass was Rev. Fr. Joe Kennedy P.P. Dunkerrin assisted by Rev. Fr. Michael Reddin, Birr. The Matron of Honour was Yvonne Guidera and the Bridesmaids were Niamh Houlihan and Danika O’Regan; Bestman was John Hogan; Groomsmen were Ian Smith and Liam Hogan; Flowergirls were Kate O’Toole and Chloe Hogan; Page Boy was Aaron O’Toole and Usher was Robert O’Connell. The first Reading was from the Book of Tobit and was read by Mary O’Grady; the Second reading was from the 1st Letter of St. John to the Corinthians and was read by Margaret Hogan. Afterward the newly weds joined their family and friends for their reception in the County Arms Hotel, Birr where as always the meal was luxurious and really enjoyed by all. Congratulations and every good wish and God’s blessing in the future are extended to Martina and Aidan as they settle in their new home in Birr.

Bereaved - Sympathy is extended to the families of the following on their recent bereavements, Cecil Armitage, Cloughjordan and Jimmy Hogan, Limerick Road, Roscrea. May they both rest in peace.

Annual Service At Gloster House - The annual service at Gloster House (on Roscrea-Birr Road) will be held on Sunday, 19th June at 3.30 p.m. The Guest Preacher is the Rev. D.A. Levistone Cooney, President of the Methodist Historical Society. Special music by the Cairde Ceoil (Friends of Music) led by Lucy McCarthy with Emily Alexander, Soprano. There is a wonderful chapel if the weather turns inclement, otherwise we enjoy being outside surrounded by the beautiful gardens. Afternoon tea is served by the Alexander family. On June 13th, 1749 John Wesley the founder of Methodism preached and stayed at Gloster House which has in recent years been a school run by the Salesian Sisters. We extend a warm welcome to everyone.

I.C.A. - The monthly meeting took place on June 5th in the Community Centre, it was the last meeting before the Summer break. All our Junior and Leaving Certificate students are wished every success in their forthcoming exams. Our Summer outing was discussed with no definite arrangements finalised. From September all our meetings, Winter and Summer will begin at 8 p.m. Our meeting came to a close with a chat and tea with some lovely cakes and buns and Bridget, our President wished us all a good Summer.
