The Late Mrs. Breda McEvoy: The death occurred peacefully at her residence on Wednesday, March 16th of Breda McEvoy (nee Sheil) of Rathlogan, Johnstown. She was formerly from Clough where she was widely known. A most remarkable lady she was a friend to everyone and a member of a very lovely family. She is deeply mourned by her heartbroken husband Sean, son James, daughters Angela, Helen and Brendan, son-in-law Oliver, sisters, brothers, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends and all the people in Clough. Reposing was at Doyle’s Funeral Home, Urlingford. Removal took place to St. Kieran’s Church, Johnstown. On Saturday, March 19th Con-Celebrated Requiem Mass was celebrated and followed by burial in Galmoy Cemetery. Large crowds turned out to say farewell to Breda. May she rest in peace. 2011 Panto: We are now in the final stages of rehearsals for the Rathdowney Pantomime who are celebrating their silver jubilee. It will run from Thursday, 31st March to Sunday, 3rd April, each night at 8 p.m. with a matinee on Sunday at 3 p.m. ‘Pack Up Your Troubles’ will be staged in the Community Centre. Anglers: The first Trout competition of the year took place on Thursday, March 17th for Seniors and Juniors. In brilliant weather there were a great many entries from 9 a.m. in the Square. The weigh in took place in Corcoran’s Bar at 6 p.m. sharp. The usual rules applies and all went well membership cards are on sale in Corcoran’s Bar, The Square and Keane’s Service Station, Mooreville.

Irish Girl Guides: Rathdowney Leaders, young Leaders Guides, Brownies and Ladybirds held a Celebration of Mass in the Church of the Holy Trinity, Rathdowney on Sunday, March 20th for all members past and present to mark the year of 2011. There was a cup of tea / coffee in the Marian Centre for all.
