Tipperary County Council has been urged by Cllr Hughie McGrath to write to the Minister for Heritage asking that Phase II of Nenagh Castle be progressed.

He said that the work should be looked at with Gills Garden groundwork nearing completion.

He requested that Phase II be placed on the council’s agenda.

It had been proposed that an interpretative centre be developed along with the castle.

Cllr Seamus Morris urged that a bandstand be put in the castle field.

District administrator Rosemary Joyce told councillors that a bat survey had been carried out on Gills Garden and the next phase was the removal of vegetation under archaeological supervision.
