Roscrea Men’s Shed are organising a Let’s Clean Roscrea Day event.

organising a Let’s Clean

Roscrea Day event.

The date for this event is Saturday the 25th of April starting at 11am. The event is the litter picking and tidying up of a number of the approach roads leading into Roscrea. The focus will be on community participation.

Neil Guerin, Chairperson of the Men’s Shed, speaking to community and voluntary groups taking part said: “The emphasis is on the positive participation of communities. The cleanup is not just about the picking up of litter to enhance how the approach to the town looks, but on how we as residents and communities view our areas. After all this is our home, our community, our town.”

Roscrea has a vibrant and active Tidy Towns committee. This event is partly in support of their efforts in the National Tidy Towns campaign. Roscrea has in the past won a Bronze medal, and hopefully this is the start of various community groups coming working together not just to win another medal for the town, but to develop a network of communities and groups willing to look after the environment of their respective areas. Roscrea as a town has achieved much in the past and this is another way of developing positivity and cooperation within the town. Neil went on to thank ‘Bernie’s’ Supervalu Roscrea for their support on the logistics and Saint Vincent de Paul Roscrea for the provision of tea, coffee and light food for those taking part.
