The Nenagh Branch of North Tipperary Hospice Movement will say a special Thank You to the public for its generous support this year with a special gesture with its annual Christmas Tree of Remembrance.

An annual Christmas fixture in the town to remember departed loved ones and family, this year’s tree will be installed on December 6 but no donations will be required from the public.

Chairp of the Nenagh branch Kay O’Donoghue said that while donations would always be greatly received, this year they the tree was a Thank You rather than an ask.

“We expect to have a big turnout this year for the lighting ceremony. It is not only an occasion to commemorate loved ones gone by, but to bring local people together and celebrate our community this Christmas,” she said.

The tree will be on the steps of Nenagh Courthouse , where it will remain until after the new year. The turning on of the light ceremony will take place on Saturday, December 6, at 4pm, with an ecumenical service accompanied Silvermines Choir group.

Booklets have been placed in all of the local churches and surrounding areas of Nenagh for people to write the names of their loved ones to be remembered at the ceremony.
