Lions club launch 10k fun run

Roscrea Lions Club, in association with the Roscrea St Patrick’s Day Festival Committee and North Tipp Leader launched their 10k run at a photocall at Mt St Joseph Monastery.

The Lions 10k Run for Charity will take place on October 12th next starting near the gates of the Monastery and following a route through rural roads. The run commences at 11.30am, and registration can be made online by following the link on www.lionsclubroscrea.org or by going directly to www.runireland.com.

It’s hoped the will attract a large turn-out from serious runners from all over the country.

So if you know somebody who wishes to take part, do spread the word. Some of the main organisers are Lions Club Committee members P Marrinan, M Murphy, L Spooner, J Cahill and P Collison with Roscrea St Patrick’s Festival committee members L Shanahan, J Lupton, A Crawford and S Crofton (Below). Cheering them on are Dom Richard, Abbott Mt St Joseph and Triona Walsh, Roscrea Beo Festival, K England and P Martin O’Rourke Roscrea Athletic Club. Runners at the launch included R Maher, L Brady, Lion T Farrelly and P Wright. Bernies Supervalu Roscrea is the sponsor. Henry Healy has lent his support for this worthy cause.

Roscrea Lions Club was chartered in 1968. Since its foundation it has been actively campaigning on behalf of local issues and community projects. The Club currently has 30 members.
