DEPUTY Noel Coonan has welcomed the news that the Three Estates Youth Club in Templemore will receive €3,000 from the Department of Children and Youth Affairs Lottery Grant Funding. The local Fine Gael TD had been lobbying his colleague Minister Frances Fitzgerald on behalf of the local group.
“This funding will be used to purchase equipment for their new volunteer led youth group. It is very good news for the volunteers behind the initiative who have been pushing for facilities and I want to commend everyone who has helped this happen,” said Deputy Coonan.
“This new youth club will be a great addition to the areas of Woodville Cresent, Railway View and Lacey Avenue. Recreation is integral to the lives of young people and we are actively supporting the development of youth clubs given the considerable benefits they offer for young people to meet in safe and free spaces.
“We are hugely conscious of supporting existing and emerging youth centres. We also want to help youth groups who are seeking to further develop their activities and facilities,” concluded Deputy Coonan
