The Mayor of Thurles, Cllr John Kennedy has called for immediate action to be taken with the River Suir Bridge footpath which is in a “deplorable state”.
Speaking at the monthly meeting of the council this week, the Labour councillor said that many people had encountered difficulties walking over the bridge as a result of the condition of the footpath.
“This is a footpath which needs to be dealt with as a matter of urgency. It is in a disgraceful condition with holes all over, on both sides. The footpath outside the entrance to Hayes Hotel also needs to be tended to because this is as bad. I would urge the council to get moving on these problems, before they get any worse,” Mayor Kennedy said.
The Mayor was supported in his comments by a number of the other public representatives who agreed that urgent action in required on both situations.
