Gardai have a made a major drugs seizure, following the dramatic arrest of two men near Thurles on Wednesday this week.
As the result of an ongoing operation targeting the sale and supply of controlled drugs in the Tipperary area Gardaí arrested two men, on Wednesday 3rd November 2011.
At about 2.30pm Gardaí from Thurles assisted by Gardaí from the Tipperary Divisional Drugs Unit attempted to stop a car at Pouldine, Thurles. The car failed to stop but was successfully stopped a short distance away on the fly over of the Cork/Dublin motorway.
A 45 year old man was arrested in the car and a 31 year old man was arrested after a short chase on foot. Both are detained at Thurles Garda Station under section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act.
Cannabis resin and cocaine with a combined street value of approximately€100000 was seized – subject to further analysis.
