Tourists enjoying the Rock of Cashel were witness to indecent behaviour recently, according to Cllr Martin Browne

At this month’s Tipp/Cashel local authority meeting, Cllr Browne said he had learned tourists were exposed to one man who “just dropped his pants” and went to the toilet in public, at the Holycross roundabout near the base of the Rock and Brú Ború. The offending individual did it “in front of everyone”. Cllr Browne said whether a person is a Traveller or a member of the settled community, “we have to have control of that area.” “It’s totally unacceptable that this situation is taking place”. Cllr Tom Wood said he raised this issue months ago. Vehicles were parked in that are “blocking” property in that road. “There’s a similar situation (near the Dualla Road). It’s very difficult for the lay person to understand who people get away with something like this.” Some people were able to “cut locks from gates” and trespass into properties without any action being taken. “If a settled person did that you have the law being put in place regararding that person. There’s a lot of aggravation and annoyance. There’s seems to be some obstruction getting people off these sites. You need another site for them. The law should be the same for settled people and (Travellers).”
