Nenagh Municipal District Council has been urged by Cllr Hughie McGrath to improve public lighting in Abbey Lane to facilitate shoppers.
Cllr McGrath told the council that lights that were out for two months were only fixed recently.
He said there was one light down by the side of the Hibernian Inn pub and another on the side of a building.
“There is a dark shadow in that street after 4pm and businesses feel it doesn’t entice people to shop in the street after dark,” he said.
Cllr McGrath was supported by Cllr Seamus Morris, who said the lights were “continuously out” and “there were few lights there anyway”.
The council agreed to do a lighting analysis in the area.
