The Gardai have arrested three local men following a major drugs haul in Roscrea. The find was made at around 11.50pm on Friday, September 19, at the car park of Grove Motors on the Birr road when a garda on patrol observed two cars parked suspiciously.
As the garda approached packages were thrown from the passenger window of one of the cars. An estimated €4,500 worth of cannabis was discovered in the packages.
Two men in their early 20s were arrested at the scene and later charged. A third man was arrested and charged on September 20. All three were charged with possession of drugs and possession for sale or supply.
Meanwhile, a sum of E40 in coins was taken in a burglary at Oaklawn, Nenagh, in the early hours of September 21. The burglary was discovered by the occupant of the house when he returned from work at 4am. The thieves gained entry through a window and ransacked the house. Enquiries are ongoing.
The Gardai are also investigating a break-in at Cudvile, Nenagh, on September 18. The burglary was discovered at around 11.30pm by the home owner. It is not known if anything was taken in the incident.
A generator and tools were taken in an incident in a yard at Ballybrit, Roscrea, on September 19. The diesel tank was also interfered with. The theft was reported to the gardai at around 5am.
An elderly woman had her car broken into at Dungar cemetery, Roscrea, when thieves smashed a front passenger window while she visited the graveyard. Nothing was taken in the incident.
