Hit drama set for The Source Theatre.
People will be very familiar with the super musical show that features Rebecca Storm as Mrs. Johnston. However not many will know that Willy Russell wrote the play version first and its success prompted the subsequent musical version. The play also features the song Marilyn, which is one of the highlights of the later show.
Thurles Dram Group are really excited about this autumn show as it contains some memorable characters and is full of energy and fun despite a tragic storyline (but more on that over the coming weeks)!
The play is directed by Mary Slattery, one of the groups most experienced directors whose recent work includes; Lady Windermere’s Fan, The Shaughraun and Noises Off. As usual there is a mixed cast of well-known and some new faces to be seen this year. The main roles are; the twin brothers Eddie and Mickey played by Andy Dawson and Pat Loughnane, Mrs. Johnston played by Caitriona Gleeson, Mrs. Lyons played by Mary Bowe, Linda by Paula Drohan, and the Narrator by Martin Fitzgerald.
As usual the opening night of the play, November 10th will be a Benefit Night. This year’s recipients are Thurles Lyons Club.
