Sacred Heart Primary School News

It is reaching fever pitch here at the Sacred Heart Primary School. With less than a week to go to the celebrations of our 50th year in this building, it is all go. Our fourth Green Flag will be raised and there is the possibility of a Blue Star for our endeavours in European Studies in the offing. The smell of fresh paint, the uplifting sound of songs being practiced and the appearance of the Child of Prague in the front window can only mean one thing, the final countdown! It wouldn’t surprise me if savvy shoppers were getting group discounts on haircuts as we really push the boat out for our big day. So, if you are a past pupil, past member of staff or have a child who is currently in our school Friday June 8th at 10am is the date for your diary.

Our soccer players were victorious in the Kennedy Park Cup for Schools last weekend. Chloe Landy, Margaret Harty, Jimmy McCarthy (6th), Seán Browne, Dylan Carney, Jack Ryan, Stephen Carey (player of the tournament), Jessie Bartlett, Graham Fahy, Tommy Harty, Jimmy McCarthy (5th), Martin Pratt, Michael Donoghue and Dion Carney represented us with pride. Everyone was delighted when Margaret Harty lifted the cup after two fiercely contested matches against our neighbours Corville NS and Dromakeenan NS. Gregory Carney and Michael Fletcher were very welcome guests to our school on Friday when they presented the team with their medals. We owe both of them a debt of gratitude for looking after the team over the past number of years. Well done to them all, we are delighted for them!
