As our school year draws to a close we reflect on the many and varied activities our school offered our students throughout the past academic year, as our school aims to foster academic excellence and personal development.
Some of this Year’s Highlights
In September we bid a sad and fond farewell to Mr. Tom Fennessey who had served as Principal for the previous ten years and a staff member for 42 years we wish him a long and happy retirement. A warm cead mile failte was extended to Mrs. Angela Cahill who was appointed Principal after a period of three years serving as Deputy Principal and to Mr. Dowling who was appointed Deputy Principal. In February Ms. Marron Kane retired and she received a warm and sad farewell as students gathered to wish her the best for years ahead. In September we welcomed our new first years to our school and in SPHE class they got an opportunity to talk about the huge changes between Primary and Secondary school and identify ways of making this Transition easier.
In October Fr. Joe Walsh celebrated an opening of the school year with the students and their parents and teachers. The religion department organised AWARE Workshops for the fifth and sixth year students. Una Hogan gave students an opportunity to discuss their own personal experience and they were given strategies to help them cope along with phone numbers to help lines should they ever require them. 5th yr attended: Careers Expo: Limerick. Biology Trips to Fota as part of the 6th years preparation for the leaving certificate. Geography Field Trip to the Commeragh Mountains to investigate the effects of glaciation as part of the Leaving Cert Programme.
