Motorists on the Thurles to Nenagh road are being targeted under the latest wave of roads to be subject to speed detector vans.
Over the past week, signs indictating that Go Safe speed detector vans will operate on the route have been placed the full length of the road.
A spokesperson for the Gardai said in a statement to the Tipperary Star that the signs were being put in place advance of a launch of 300 new speed detection zones across the country.
The Gardai said that there will be media notification prior to the project going live.
The R498 has a general speed limit of 80km/h with the exception of Kilkeary which is subject to 60km/h, and The Ragg, which has a limit of 50km/h.
