An explosive end to an otherwise run-of-the-mill meeting materialised after Independent Cllr Clancy’s Notice of Motion calling for the council to “cease and desist from advertising and promoting on council property, a particular political viewpoint by the flying of the so-called EU flag, consisting twelve gold stars on a blue background.

The pupose of this motion is to ensure parity of esteem for those members of the public, members of the council, and council staff, who are not supportive of, or in agreement with, the aims, structures and rules of the EU.”
