Barna Active Retirement Group - The group held their A.G.M. in Barna Hall on Wednesday, April 6th at which there was a large attendance. This was their 6th A.G.M. The Chairperson, Carmel Peyton welcomed all to the meeting and went on to say that the past year had been a very successful one for them and she hoped that the coming one would be as good. Good wishes were extended to Nancy Gavin and hoped that she would be back with us very soon. Sympathy was extended to Matt Gleeson and also to any other of our members who suffered bereavements during the past year. May they all rest in peace.
Carmel also thanked all those who in any way had helped them out in 2010, this she said was very much appreciated. The Secretary than read the minutes of the previous A.G.M. and this was followed by her report for 2010 in which she gave details of their various activities during the past year. This was followed by the Treasurer’s statement which showed that they are well in the black. The meeting adopted the minutes and the Secretary and Treasurer’s reports and both were congratulated by the Chairperson. The election of officers followed, all the out-going officers were re-elected as follows, Chairperson, Carmel Peyton, Vice Chairperson, Mary Maher, Secretary, Agnes Toohey, Asst. Secretary, Ester Devereux, Treasurer, Peggy Glennon. The activities for the coming year were discussed, a trip to the races in May, a day trip in June and the annual holiday later in the year. Meeting then came to a close and all present were treated to a lovely tea which was really enjoyed by all. Next meeting on Wednesday, April 20th at 8.30 p.m. As you see from the report the excellent work this group are doing for the retired of the area. They deserve more support, why not come along to the next meeting, all are very welcome.

Time For A New Challenge - Accord, Nenagh, the Diocesan Agency for Marriage and the Family is looking for volunteers for its Marriage Education Service. If you are interested, an information night will be held in Loreto House, Kenyon Street, Nenagh on this Thursday, April 14th at 7.30 p.m.
Daffodil Day - A big thank you to all who donated to the recent Daffodil Day, a total of 650 euro was collected between Byrne’s Shop in Dunkerrin and Bergin’s Shop in Moneygall. This money will be put to good use by Offaly Hospice.
Apostolic Work Society - The Branch would like to thank everyone who contributed to their recent church gate collection. On Sunday next, 17th April they are holding their annual display and cake sale in the Legion Hall, Moneygall after the 11 a.m. Mass and will continue until 4.30 p.m. They would sincerely appreciate your support in donating cakes, jams etc and by coming along on the day and enjoying a browse around. Again all the proceeds go to the Missions.
Update - Well done to Ollie Hayes and Henry Healy for keeping the flag flying for Moneygall in all the National TV and radio programme recently. Work has now commenced in the village with painting starting in the next few weeks.
