A new advocacy group for horse owners in Tipperary, aims to dispel some of the myths about Travellers and horses in the county.
The Tipperary Travellers Horse Owners Association (TTHOA) is hoping to dispel some misunderstandings about Traveller horse owners, says organiser Tom O’Reilly. “Our membership is open to all horse owners from both the Traveller community and the settled community. We have established the association in order to promote and protect positive horse-owning by Travellers in Tipperary. As an association we feel that much of the reporting around the issue of Traveller horse ownership has been negative and often misinformed.” Based in Tipperary town, TTHOA has grown to over 200 members, drawn from across the county.
