Men’s Sheds Praised
The Men’s Shed in Roscrea was praised by Cllr Pauline Coonan at North Tipperary County Council for its work in putting handcarved timber nameplates on housing estates around the town.
She also thanked area engineer John Jones and staff member Liam Bergin for their co-operation in carrying out the project.
The son of the Methodist Minister Brian Griffin and wife Eirene, is now engaged in an exciting new exchange of Basque and Irish young men and women for surfing in Spanish Point. “Our son Jonathan, has been given the remit of a ‘roving youth pastor’ and through surfing he is bringing together young people,” says Eirene. “The motto is ‘Living Life to the Full’ which is important today! It is taken from St. John’s gospel, chapter 10 verse 10. Today young people are looking to isolated pass-times, phones, computers... and neglecting the abundance that nature provides and the resources in themselves and other people. Not only will Jono and Beth be engaging the young people in the surf but also in cross-culture games and visits to local scenic spots, as well as teaching about the God who Cares and Creates.” Readers can find out more at www.thesurfproject.org
