Tipperary TD Noel Coonan has welcomed news that the Health Service Executive is launching a new communications strategy to provide clarity surrounding the medical card eligibility process.

Tipperary TD Noel Coonan has welcomed news that the Health Service Executive is launching a new communications strategy to provide clarity surrounding the medical card eligibility process.

“I want to make people aware of this new and welcome initiative which aims to clarify the medical card eligibility criteria in simple language. It will come as a particular relief to elderly people, many of whom have contacted me since the Budget and are anxious about the retention of their cards,” said Deputy Coonan.

“I understand their concerns and this new strategy will provide additional information on the HSE website for applying for a card. It also involves the distribution of leaflets nationwide and advertisements in the media. The HSE also plans to increase the opening hours of its information helpline for those seeking assistance. People deserve full access to the facts and to be aware of what is involved,” continued the Tipperary TD.

Deputy Coonan further urged people with concerns to make contact with his Templemore office on 0504 32544 where Noel will be happy to resolve any problems or difficulties they may have.
