The Drombane Upperchurch Energy Team is now seeking applicants for the next phase of its community energy project.
In 2012, Drombane Upperchurch Energy Team was one of the first communities in Ireland to have successfully participated in Better Energy Communities Pilot Scheme with the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI).
Under this phase 2, the Energy Team secured an SEAI grant for the community and in total 22 houses were upgraded. Half of the houses were social houses and received 100% funding, with “can pay” homeowners receiving a 40% grant toward their upgrades.
Works included: Attic insulation, Cavity wall insulation, External wall insulation, Stoves, New condensing boilers and Heating control upgrades.
Here are 2 case studies from last years scheme in Upperchurch and Drombane:

The attic and cavity wall insulated, new stove, 100% cfl bulbs
Appox cost of upgrade work €2794.00
