VOTERS living north of Nenagh will be left in a ‘Gaza Strip’ limbo without democratic representation if proposed boundary changes go ahead, according to North Tipperary’s new incoming Mayor.

Rathcabbin-based Independent Cllr Michael O’Meara said he was honoured to take over the chains of office from outgoing Mayor Cllr Michéal Lowry, after being elected unopposed to the office at this year’s Council AGM held in St Patrick’s College. Cllr O’Meara is in the unique position where he could be elected Mayor of the neighbouring North Tipp/Offaly constituency in 2014.
